Youth As Civic Experts Network
reimagining civics for every student
Who are we?
Our network includes paid fellows, unpaid interns, and alumni program participants engaged in collaborative, virtual workshops and online leadership experiences. Throughout the year students develop social media and digital storytelling skills to aid them in their quest to tell a compelling story about civic education in their local communities. As a result, they go on to lead conversations on the importance of high-quality civic learning experiences in their schools and communities, as well as, participate in national conversations on civics.
iCivics was founded by Justice Sandra Day O'Connor in 2009 to inspire and engage the next generation of civic actors. As the leading civic education resource across the country, iCivics served nearly 7.6 million students this year and over 120,500 educators in all 50 states.
We believe that great civic education is the foundation of a thriving American democracy. To support this charge, the Youth As Civic Experts Network was developed to empower students in an exploration of equity in civic education and provide space for young people to lend their voice to the larger discussion on how to improve civic learning.
